When the current managing team took over in 1994, they began to expand into classical themes and licensed characters from popular TV shows and movies. Founded in 1983, Papo began with a small range of figures including a medieval, fairy tale and western line. In the game, the player character is the young boy Quico. Ever since the launch of our first game, Papo & Yo, last April, weve witnessed a constant inflow of great vibes from the PC gaming community. Papo is a French based toy manufacturer of high quality hand painted figures. And yet, Quico loves his Monster and wants to save him.As Quico, players will build their friendship with Monster by solving puzzles together and adventuring through a magical, surrealist world. Papo & Yo is a unique puzzle-platforming game with a very personal story. The minute he sees one hop by, he’ll scarf it down and fly into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one, including Quico, is safe.
There is love here, but love isnt always. That said, Monster does have a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. Papo & Yo tells a different kind of story about family, a story that I suspect that Im not alone, as the child of an alcoholic parent, in relating to. Quico’s best friend, Monster, is a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth, but that doesn’t scare Quico away from playing with him.
